Resolute? Yes, Steadfast, Unwavering, Moxie…

What is a resolution?-2

This time of year always has people talking about New Year’s Resolutions, change, new beginnings, and the like.  I am not a fan of New Year’s Resolutions because I personally approach them as a cop out.  Every year my resolutions are to drink more water and stop swearing so much.  And you know what?  I am pretty damn thirsty.

So this year I not making a resolution, instead I am thinking more introspectively about being resolute.  Similar to a resolution, but with resolute there is no way to cop out.  Why?  Because by definition it is not allowed.

Resolute (adj.) – characterized by firmness and determination, as the temper, spirit, actions, etc.

See?  And even better?  The synonyms for resolute include strong and steadfast.  That’s what I want to be this year.  Screw water and swearing, and “F” resolutions, I just want to be resolute.  I want to be strong and steadfast.  I want to show guts, resilience, and moxie.

What is moxie you say?

Moxie (noun) – courage and aggressiveness; nerve (Adjectives include guts, grit, bold, and determined.)

Now that the grammar lesson is over, lets get to it.  Pretty sweet, right? So, what is my plan for being a bold badass? For having moxie?  Good question.  I have been researching and learning from some of the most strong, resilient, and gutsy chics I know to find out. So, stay with me in the coming weeks as I share stories about women who step up and throw down when life pushes them up against a wall.  The face  and they come out swinging.

Don’t miss this series about women who are living their lives with moxie despite setbacks, struggles, and personal obstacles.

  • Ha ha, I am pretty damn thirsty, too! I love the way you’re reworking the whole resolutions angle. I don’t care for resolutions either. They have that “gym membership” feel. I’m not down with forced commitments. Thanks for this great post. I think we have a lot in common!
