What #FitMoms Want for Mother’s Day This Year

Hey, Dads!  Yeah, you.  Listen up.  This one’s for you.  In case for you forgot, Mother’s Day is right around the corner on Sunday, May 8th.  Yeah, I told you it was creeping up on you!  But, don’t worry, you still have time and I’ve got you covered!  Here are the Top Things #FitMoms want for Mother’s Day this year…

A New Gym Bag.  Your hand me down isn’t cutting it anymore.  Plus it stinks like your sweaty gym socks.  Don’t you think she deserves something a little nicer to keep her sneakers, clothes, bands, and other gym-related stuff in?Screen Shot 2016-04-24 at 3.07.15 PM

New swag.  Listen, I know you think she has enough leggings and running tops.  But she doesn’t.  Really.  She never will.  Ever. Don’t believe me?  Just ask her.  Trust me, she would love another outfit to make her feel awesome as she is sweating it out.

New sneakers.  Read above.  Same rule applies.  Except be careful here!  Just because she’s a mom, doesn’t mean that her sneakers need to look like it.  Make ’em sharp and the brighter the better.  (I recommend Nike Free if she cross trains and, of course, some cute Chuck Taylors if she is a serious lifter.)

A massage.  At a spa.  By herself.  She works hard and her body takes a beating.  Some quiet time to herself and pampering would make her day! (This one is always on my list! You can’t go wrong here.)

Equipment.  Stock that home gym.  The number one complain I hear from fit mamas is that they don’t have as much time as they would like to workout.  Working out at home makes that incredibly easier.  Trust me, I do it too! Make her workouts moreebook weights convenient and accessible for her and she will love it.

A date night that you planned.  Make reservations, get a babysitter, get dressed up in something decent (sorry, dress sweats don’t work for this one; yes, I know dress sweats are a a thing, but seriously no), and take her out.

Show her your appreciation.  If nothing else, most moms just want to know that they are doing a good job.  Being a mom is hard and sometimes we don’t trust our abilities in this area as much as we wish we would.  It’s not measurable like her 5k time or 1 rep max deadlift, so it’s hard for many of us to trust the process like we trust our training plans.  Let her know she is doing it well and that you are noticing.  I know it’s simple and seems silly, but it would mean more to her than anything on this list (and if you combine it with something on this list, she would be even more grateful!)
